Elkton is located on the banks of the Umpqua River. The Umpqua is excellent for swimming, rafting, fishing, and picnicing. 
The area also has a few great wineries that offer tastings.
Reedsport is the nearest coastal town, located about 35 miles west of Elkton.  The beautiful coastline of the Pacific Ocean can be explored at Winchester Bay, which is 4 miles south of Reedsport on Highway 101.  Visit Winchester Bay to play on the beach, check out the dunes, visit the historic Umpqua River Lighthouse, and of course to eat fresh seafood.  On the way to the coast there is an incredible elk viewing area- be sure to stop!
